Acting Police Commissioner James Philbert says many lessons were learnt and errors were noted by his officers after the Fifth Summit of the Americas in Port-of-Spain. He said officers were better ready for the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) which will be held in November in Port-of-Spain. Philbert was speaking at an appreciation ceremony for police officers at the Police Administration office in Port-of-Spain on Monday.
The officers were awarded for their commitment and performance during the recent Fifth Summit of the Americas. Police officers from the First and Second Divisions were awarded medals. Philbert said, "We speak with ease as we approach CHOGM." He said many lessons were learnt and errors were recognised. Philbert said he was confident that T&T could be called the summit capital of the Western Hemisphere because the country was recognised internationally for its success.
Echoing Philbert's view was National Security Minister Martin Joseph who said that many people doubted but he knew the country would have been successful. He said the only challenge was to sustain this standard. Joseph said after CHOGM the nation would see sustained results.
