Mc Nicolls served
Chief Magistrate Sherman Mc Nicolls has been served with a notice to appear before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate to answer a charge of permitting a police officer to drive his vehicle without a valid certificate of insurance.
Mc Nicolls and his driver PC Sean Simon were issued with summonses to appear before Sixth Court Magistrate Debbie Ann-Bassaw on September 10. Simon was also charged with driving a vehicle without a valid certificate of insurance. The charges were laid under the Motor Vehicle and Insurance Act, Chapter 48:51 Section 3:1.
Mc Nicolls presided over several matters at the Eighth Court yesterday, moments after being issued with the summons. He was served shortly before 9 am yesterday at the Port-of-Spain Magistrates’ Court by officers of the Belmont Police Station. Cpl Rakesh Ramsook of the Belmont Police investigated the matter and laid the charges.

I pity Police Cpl Ramsook of the Belmont Station as very soon he will probably be transferred to Toco or somewhere very far from where he lives.

The Chief Magistrate has
The Chief Magistrate has himself convicted many individuals over the years for driving without valid insurance. He has now joined the ranks of the law breaker so how can he now continue to preside as an enforcer/upholder of the law. He should tender his resignation immediately and not hide behind the time worn cliche about being innocent until proven guilty. Documents do not lie, they tell their own story. He has found himself in an untenable situation and must now spare the country the ignominy of having one of its chief law enforcement officers being hauled before the court for himself breaking the law.
I feel really ashamed for
I feel really ashamed for this magistrate, how can he hold his head up in public much less preside over court as usual. McNicolls time for you to take your permanent leave.
