Ashanna Arthur will represent T&T at the Miss World beauty pageant in South Africa in December.

Directed by new franchise holder/director Michael Raghunanan, the Miss T&T/World beauty pageant was held at Queen's Hall in St Ann's on Monday night. Despite a few setbacks, the evening had a good turnout. Also attending the competition was President George Maxwell Richards. Each time the contestants took the stage, it was clear that Arthur was among the favourites.

Arthur conducted her interview sessions quite well, never fumbling or fishing for words.

She also copped the coveted titles of Miss Physique, Miss Photogenic and Most Intelligent for the interview segment.

Her closest rivals for the evening Chenelle Maloney, (winner of the best evening gown) and Danielle Tardieu-Moze, never backed down, proving that they too, were capable of getting the title of Miss T&T/World.

In the end, however, Arthur took the title.

A special presentation was also made by Raghunanan to former franchise holder Peter Elias.

In Elias' absence the award was accepted by former co-director Adrian Raymond.
