Look to the future with hope—Panday
Opposition Leader Basdeo Panday has called on the nation to look to the future with hope despite the many challenges, as it celebrates Divali.
He also appealed to the Hindu community to remember the forefathers who were instrumental in preserving the rich cultural beliefs and to think about the poor and hungry. He said it was through the light that the splendour of this world was revealed and as the nation celebrates Divali, to remember that in order to conquer darkness, there was a need to unite and work together as one.
He added that as Divali signifies the need for community and village, and by extension the nation, to unite for a common purpose, the nation must also take this time to deal with the many challenges that face the country such as crime, high food prices and health issues. On behalf of his family, officers of the UNC and the Parliamentary Opposition, Panday extends warm Divali greetings to each member of the national community. “May Mother Lakshmi shower blessings of peace, happiness, prosperity and unity on all the citizens of T&T,” said Panday.
Mr. Panday, Divali
Mr. Panday, Divali Greetings
Today as we celebrate Divali,
I extend to you and the family - Shub Divali.
And to my friendly bloggers I extend the same greetings to you as we join together as a nation in celebration.
We must strive to move:-
- From Darkness to Light.
- From Ignorance to Knowledge.
May Mother Lakshmi, Queen of Queens, shower us with her blessings.
Peace and Love

Panday advises in his Divali
Panday advises in his Divali message: "remember that in order to conquer darkness, there was a need to unite and work together as one." Then why is he doing everything to prevent the people from uniting, unless it's under him?
Panday should do his people and by extension the country a big favour by making his exit gracefully while he still can. If he doesn't want to release his people, then his people should release him and give him a pair of slippers, a pipe and a rocking chair and let him enjoy his grandfatherhood while he has the freedom to do so.

Happy Divali to you and all, bloggers included.
The Prince.
We can afford to be gracious
We can afford to be gracious today, and accept Mr. Panday's warm words of encouragement.
At least he didn't dwell on what he is doing to fix the many problems in the country (unlike the PM in his own Divali speech).
To all those in the Hindu Community - Happy Divali to you. To everyone else - help to celebrate in peace and with a sense of community.
Divali Greetings. May the light of Lakshmi shine on us all !!
SHUB DIVALI
SHUB DIVALI -
Shub Divali to T&T. Panday quotes you do not hear,
1) If you put PNM in power the Crime and Corruption will get worse.
2) COP will not win a seat.
3) Unity is necessary for the opposition to govern.
4) If a teacher abandons his classroom, he is behaving like a criminal. Not the propaganda version designed to discredit him "Teachers are criminals".
5) Changing the name from Government Pension to a Grant would work against the pensioners. A pension you can’t take away at any time.
6) You can pass as many laws as you want but if the government does not have the will to fight crime nothing will change.
7) The attack on Sat Sharma is an attack on the judiciary, and an attempt to control them
8) Political Interference in the Judiciary makes us wary of giving up the Privy Council. There should be a wide consultation and a referendum before any change.
