Gold Com­man­der of the Com­mon­wealth Heads of Gov­ern­ment Meet­ing (CHOGM) ACP Stephen Williams says the pro­tec­tive ser­vices are ready to deal with pro­test­ers. The head of se­cu­ri­ty for CHOGM, Williams said the pro­tec­tive ser­vices were pre­pared for any im­promp­tu protests that might dis­rupt CHOGM. "So far, I have re­ceived no of­fi­cial in­for­ma­tion about any protest ac­tion dur­ing the con­fer­ence." How­ev­er, should cit­i­zens or for­eign groups de­cide to protest in and around the cap­i­tal city and dis­rupt the peace, Williams said he had plans in place to deal with what­ev­er sit­u­a­tion aris­es.

Williams said cit­i­zens of all par­tic­i­pat­ing coun­tries could rest as­sured that all sys­tems were in place to make CHOGM safe and suc­cess­ful. He al­so as­sured that po­lice would be out in full force in hot spot ar­eas to en­sure law and or­der. Williams said the Po­lice Ser­vice had re­strict­ed the leave of all po­lice of­fi­cers, with ad­di­tion­al de­mands be­ing placed on them for the CHOGM. "We need all hands on deck for CHOGM."
