?Prime Min­is­ter Patrick Man­ning left for Cu­ba yes­ter­day for a rou­tine med­ical ex­am­i­na­tion, a re­lease from the Of­fice of the Prime Min­ster stat­ed. Man­ning had a pace­mak­er im­plant­ed to reg­u­late his heart­beat sev­er­al years ago in Cu­ba. And dur­ing one of his rou­tine med­ical ex­am­i­na­tions af­ter the surgery, he was di­ag­nosed with a ma­lig­nant tu­mour in his kid­ney. Man­ning had the tu­mour re­moved last De­cem­ber. The re­lease said Man­ning would re­turn to T&T on Wednes­day. In his ab­sence, Sen­a­tor Dr Lenny Saith would car­ry out the func­tions of the Prime Min­is­ter.
