The executive of Seamen and Waterfront Workers Trade Union (SWWTU) is supporting Government's initiative to use the fast ferry in its ongoing efforts to assist the people of Haiti. In a news release yesterday, union president Michael Annisette said the executive decided during an emergency session to support to Government's proposed plan to use the fast ferry to transport much-needed relief supplies to Haiti.
The union has also appointed its assistant secretary general, Nelson Sinnette, as co-ordinator for all relief activities on behalf of the union. Annisette and the executive are calling on all of its members employed on the fast ferry to lend their support, to ensure the people of Haiti benefit fully from the exercise.
