Di­rec­tor of the Ad­ven­tist De­vel­op­ment and Re­lief Agency Theodore Jaria is ap­peal­ing to mem­bers of the pub­lic to con­tin­ue to con­tribute food and oth­er items to Haiti's earth­quake vic­tims. Jaria was speak­ing dur­ing a news con­fer­ence at the Caribbean Union Con­fer­ence at Rook­ery Nook, Mar­aval, yes­ter­day. This comes in wake of the pow­er­ful earth­quake that rocked Haiti on Jan­u­ary 12. Jaria said he was part of a team that vis­it­ed Haiti three days af­ter the earth­quake, and stayed with re­lief ef­forts un­til Jan­u­ary 22. "We went in to the sights and sounds of pain and trau­ma," he said. He said the team worked close­ly with a Cana­di­an unit of med­ical doc­tors that sup­plied wa­ter-pu­rifi­ca­tion tablets and oth­er goods.
