Two students from a prestigious male school in Western Trinidad have been suspended after they were recorded in a video performing sex acts on the school's compound.
The 13-minute video was recorded by a cellphone and posted on Facebook. Site fans said it was pulled two days after it was posted. The school's principal yesterday confirmed the students have been suspended. "We have to follow the rules of the Ministry of Education and it has been dealt with according to the ministry's rules," he said in a telephone interview.
President of the Parent Teachers Association, Zena Ramatali, said she did not see the video but advised youths to do the right thing. "We have to educate the young people about using Facebook," she added. She advised youths to be with people who were willing to motivate and encourage them. The T&T Unified Teachers Association said it had no information on the matter and could not comment. Education Minister Esther LeGendre was told about the incident but did not return any calls from the Guardian.
