Digicel plans a major upgrade of its corporate Blackberry plan to the full version of its Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES), which will transform the smart phone into a productivity powerhouse for business, says Vindra Dhanraj, Head of Business Sales–Digicel Trinidad. Dhanraj said the new move by Digicel would help customers get the most out of their smart phone by providing best-in-class mobility with no compromises on security, at a very low cost of ownership. She said Digicel has been able to deliver a 180 percent year on year growth in business customers by extending its product offerings, delivering lower cost of operation for mobile communications and business applications, and by pursuing a policy of linking a dedicated account manager for each customer.
"Blackberry can be more than simply email for our business customers. We have direct access to Blackberry's creators (Research in Motion) technical teams to ensure that all issues are quickly resolved to exceed our customers' expectations, ensure reliability and live up to Digicel's reputation of delivering world class customer service. She said the company has been paying attention to the needs of its customers and has responded to calls for new business solutions such as unified messaging, direct advertising opportunities and improvements in the customer experience by adopting a corporate culture that focuses on customer needs. "Our objective is to make best in class mobility more accessible to businesses than ever before. The new BES offering works on any internet enabled Blackberry and the free downloads includes free licenses that provides access to the latest end user features.
The new applications are backward compatible and support the latest Microsoft exchange or small business server. The BES plan is a low cost data, mobile access and productivity suite. It includes advanced security functions that allows the owner to remotely reset passwords, remotely wipe lost or stolen devices, it features third generation encryption, more efficient data compression to reduce data roaming costs, global address book lookup, sync emails, appointments, contacts and notes, a corporate calendar, and access to corporate data and intranet behind the firewall. For system administrators the new BES acknowledges the challenges posed by users, and there is a need to protect users from themselves and to protect sensitive corporate information, said Clayton East, Product Manager, Digicel Trinidad & Tobago Ltd. "Users will lose devices, they will forget passwords and much more. But with a single point of control, passwords can be changed over the air, administrators can remotely wipe devices and push out data wirelessly," he added.
"We are giving administrators the ability to manage smart phone users like never before easily and efficiently. There is no need to compromise," he added. East said the new Blackberry brings instant gratification for users with Instant Messaging fully functional right out of the box. Users will have unlimited access to Yahoo Messenger, ICQ, Windows Live Messenger and more. Social and business networking also comes easily as it comes preprogrammed to manage Facebook, Flikr, LinkedIn, Twitter and more. "We are always looking for new opportunities to add customer value and one of the ways we are doing this is by offering plans that helps them to lower their land line costs as well. "Digicel was the first operator to connect mobiles to landlines through closed user groups (CUGs). We now offer landline services, gateways, dedicated internet access, international private leased lines and IP based PBX solutions, and we want our customers to know that their options just got even wider and much more attractive than ever before,"
he added.
