The Office of the Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) said T&T experienced several reports of flash flooding and landslides during yesterday's heavy rainfall.
In a release, the ODPM said the Disaster Management Units of the corporations, along with the Works and Transport Ministry, were out on the field cleaning up the affected areas. It noted there were no reports of infrastructural damage or loss of life.
The ODPM reported traffic lights along the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway, between the Aranguez intersection and Tunapuna, were not operational which resulted in some traffic congestion which was addressed by the police. It added that a landslide and a fallen tree blocked the smooth flow of traffic on the Western Main Road, near the yacht club, Glencoe, and the Goodwood Park entrance which was addressed by agencies.
Some of the other affected areas were Beetham Gardens, East Dry River, Piccadilly Street, parts of South Quay, parts of Tragarete and Wrightson Roads, Freeman Road, St Augustine, Orange Grove Road, parts of Macoya, St Joseph, and Aranguez.
