The Of­fice of the Dis­as­ter Pre­pared­ness and Man­age­ment (ODPM) said T&T ex­pe­ri­enced sev­er­al re­ports of flash flood­ing and land­slides dur­ing yes­ter­day's heavy rain­fall.

In a re­lease, the ODPM said the Dis­as­ter Man­age­ment Units of the cor­po­ra­tions, along with the Works and Trans­port Min­istry, were out on the field clean­ing up the af­fect­ed ar­eas. It not­ed there were no re­ports of in­fra­struc­tur­al dam­age or loss of life.

The ODPM re­port­ed traf­fic lights along the Churchill-Roo­sevelt High­way, be­tween the Aranguez in­ter­sec­tion and Tu­na­puna, were not op­er­a­tional which re­sult­ed in some traf­fic con­ges­tion which was ad­dressed by the po­lice. It added that a land­slide and a fall­en tree blocked the smooth flow of traf­fic on the West­ern Main Road, near the yacht club, Glen­coe, and the Good­wood Park en­trance which was ad­dressed by agen­cies.

Some of the oth­er af­fect­ed ar­eas were Beetham Gar­dens, East Dry Riv­er, Pic­cadil­ly Street, parts of South Quay, parts of Tra­garete and Wright­son Roads, Free­man Road, St Au­gus­tine, Or­ange Grove Road, parts of Ma­coya, St Joseph, and Aranguez.
