Chief of Defence Staff Brigadier Ronald Maunday yesterday urged his troops to hold fast to traditions. Maunday was speaking at the T&T Defence Force annual church parade at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, Port-of-Spain. "We need to hold fast to traditions on a daily basis," he said.
"We must also applaud our family members who support us...Traditions are dying fast. People know we are unique. "Your behaviour and what you do is critical. We have to set an example. Traditions are from yesterday and it's the same traditions I lived on. "We are a special organisation and we need to hold fast to traditions...Let us go back to what our traditions are."
Rev Father John Rohim told the congregation to have an interest in spiritual things rather than physical things. "When you prepare for Christmas, there is dust everywhere...It takes time to prepare," he said. "We must dust away pride, selfishness, dishonesty, exploitation, impatience and insensitivity from our hearts," Rohim said.
