Southern Division police are investigating a shooting outside the Smith Robertson Building in Marabella after a bullet shattered a glass door in the building. The building houses the Unemployment Relief Programme’s headquarters, a hardware and a drugstore.
The bullet, which burst through a glass door in the drugstore, has not been recovered by the police. The shattered door has since been replaced.
Police said the shooting occurred around 7 am before the workers from the URP office arrived for work. An employee, who requested anonymity, said usually there were about 40 workers in the office, three in the drug store and five in the hardware.
“There was one person in the drugstore at the time who heard the shot. The police came and did investigations but we have no idea why someone wanted to shoot here, or if this was a stray bullet,” the employee said.
Anyone with information on the shooting can contact Crimestoppers at 800-TIPS or Whatsapp 482-GARY.
