A 27-year-old hair­dress­er was shot nine times while she was wait­ing for her boyfriend in Mal­abar, Ari­ma, on Sun­day night.

Po­lice said at about 10.30 pm, Tashay Melville, 27, of Champs Fleurs, was seat­ed in a brown Hyundai Elantra at Joseph Av­enue, off La Croix Road, when gun­men opened fire on her. She was shot in the stom­ach, hands and thighs.

Melville was tak­en to the Ari­ma Health Fa­cil­i­ty by a passer­by and trans­ferred to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex in Mount Hope where up to press time she was re­port­ed to be in se­ri­ous but sta­ble con­di­tion.

Po­lice are yet to de­ter­mine a mo­tive for the shoot­ing.

Yes­ter­day, her close friends said they could not “deal with any bad news” and sent up fer­vent prayers for her to “pull through.” In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing.
