Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (Region Three) have charged a third man in connection with a 2020 quadruple homicide.
24-year-old labourer SHAKEEL JEMMOTT (also known as ‘Takka’), of New Grant Princes Town, was charged with the murders of Aaron George, Darnel Mitchell, Guimar Jose Rausseo Marcano and Jose Serrano. The charges were laid following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC, on 12th December 2021.
The Police Service reports that Jemmott appeared virtually before Princes Town Magistrate, Indira Misir Gosine, on Thursday 6th January 2022, was remanded into custody.
The matter adjourned to 7th February 2022.
The bodies of the four victims were found in a bushy area in the New Grant district on Monday 25th May 2020. They all had been shot in their heads.
Investigations were supervised by Supt. Dhilpaul, Sgt. Elvin Richardson and W/Sgt. Stephen-James, of Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region Three.
Jemmott was charged by ASP (Ag.) Persad, formerly of HBI Region Three, on Tuesday 4th January 2022.
The Police Service notes that these murders were previously solved, with charges being laid against Anthony Mitchell in July 2020; and his younger brother, Akeem Mitchell, in September 2020. Jemmott, meanwhile, was previously charged with another murder in June 2020.
