A human skull was found during a search and rescue operation for missing Venezuelan national Luis Tovar in Guayaguyare Thursday night.
The discovery was made during a joint operation between the Hunters Search and Rescue Team and officers of the Mayaro and Rio Claro police stations.
According to reports, the severely weathered skull was found in the village of Calmapas around 7.45 pm with holes roughly 15 meters from the shoreline. Pictures of the remains sent to Guardian Media show at least six small holes across its left side primarily focused on the parietal bone.
According to the Hunters Search and Rescue Team's captain, Vallence Rambharat, Mayaro PC Jaikaran, PC Knights and WPC O'Connor were a part of the search and contacted crime scene investigators.
Investigations are ongoing.
Luis Tovar, 51, has been missing since April 28 and has Alzheimer's.
The searches are planned in consultation with the Anti Kidnapping Unit led by ASP Darryl Ramdass.
