Trinidad and Tobago students studying in the United Kingdom will now be able to work in the country for three years after completing their studies.
This was announced by Bridget Philipson MP, the Secretary of State for Education three weeks after the Labour party won a landslide election.
In a speech on Thursday, Philipson said the UK values and welcomes international students in a keynote speech at the Embassy Education Conference in London. The opportunity to live and work in the UK for up to three years post-studies is open to all international students.
In her speech, she said, "Closed systems that only look inward quickly run out of ideas. Creativity crumbles, innovation dies, the same thoughts spin round and round and collapse in on themselves. But through our international partners, we can reach out across the world and bring back a freshness of thought that breathes new life into our society."
