Jill Stew­art, the wife of San­dals Chair­man, Adam Stew­art, has died af­ter a bat­tle with sar­co­ma (can­cer).

Adam Stew­art post­ed the an­nounce­ment on so­cial me­dia.

"It is al­most unimag­in­able that it has come to this. Still, with un­bear­able grief and a bro­ken heart, I let you know that my wife Jill, the love of my life, my best friend of 28 years, and moth­er of our three won­der­ful chil­dren passed away peace­ful­ly and sur­round­ed by love," he said. "From the mo­ment we re­ceived her ter­ri­ble di­ag­no­sis a lit­tle more than a year ago, Jill was cer­tain she want­ed to share her jour­ney, our fam­i­ly’s jour­ney, wher­ev­er it led. Open­ing her­self to this com­mu­ni­ty was brave and gen­er­ous. Just like Jill."

Send­ing his con­do­lences was Prime Min­is­ter of Ja­maica An­drew Hol­ness. He called her death a dev­as­tat­ing blow, leav­ing with a pro­found sense of grief.

"I ex­tend my deep­est con­do­lences and prayers. We mourn the loss of a re­mark­able woman whose self­less love touched the lives of so many. May Jill's mem­o­ry for­ev­er in­spire us to em­brace life ful­ly, to love un­con­di­tion­al­ly, and to cher­ish every pre­cious mo­ment with our loved ones," Hol­ness said.
