“Take any reports of violence or threats to the police.”
United National Congress (UNC) political leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar said she had not heard of any incident involving her supporters and the deputy political leader for Movement for the Social Justice (MSJ) Radhaka Gualbance when asked about the incident yesterday.
“No I have not but if anything should have happened, take it to the police,” said the UNC leader during a motorcade in Barataria.
“They are the ones if there has been any violence or any untoward or wrong doing, please make your reports to the police.”
The Opposition Leader also similarly advised her main political rival, the People’s National Movement (PNM) to do the same given fresh claims that young UNC candidates may also face allegations.
“For five years we have been hearing the same story for 10 years. Up to today no one could be charged, if there a matters there are police investigations, go to the police. We are on the eve of election, they have the same playbook, repeat, repeat, repeat. After five years no one is believing a word they have to say,’ said Persad-Bissessar, concerning possible allegations facing her candidates.
Gualbance, the MSJ’s deputy Political leader and candidate for Fyzabad claimed in a Facebook post over the weekend that she was physically assaulted by an apparent supporter of the UNC while on the campaign trail.
Gualbance said she was targeted because she was a woman as she stated that the man did not attack her male colleagues during the walkabout.
