Four days after he went missing, relatives of Komal Maharaj say they have received no ransom demand. They also said there were no issues at home that would make him want to leave abruptly.
Speaking with Guardian Media yesterday, a relative, who asked not to be identified, said the father of two, of Felicity, always calls or messages his wife about his whereabouts.
The relative said Maharaj’s disappearance was not in keeping with his regular pattern or movements.
Police said while they are still investigating the matter as though it was a kidnapping, they have not been informed of any ransom demand and are calling on the public to assist.
Joining that call is the Hunters Search and Rescue Team led by Vallence Rambharat who said there were three false sightings of Maharaj.
He added that the team exhausted a lot of resources pursuing the three leads which bore no fruit, but he hopes that the public can assist in locating Maharaj.
Maharaj, 40 of Lyne Lane, off Maha Sabha Street, Felicity, was last seen at Price Plaza, Chaguanas, around 2 pm on Friday. The father of two was believed to have withdrawn money from an ATM minutes before he disappeared.
At the time of Maharaj’s disappearance, he was wearing jeans, a red T-shirt, a grey long sleeve hoodie, and black and white sneakers.
