A 19-year-old male sus­tained a gun­shot wound to his left thigh dur­ing a shoot­ing in­ci­dent in Laven­tille on Thurs­day.

Guardian Me­dia un­der­stands the in­ci­dent oc­curred around 7 pm on Box­ing Day, as the vic­tim was walk­ing from his home on Pat­ter­son Lane to­wards a near­by riv­er.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, while on his way to the riv­er, the vic­tim ob­served a masked man armed with a firearm who then opened fire in his di­rec­tion.

The in­jured teen was tak­en by a rel­a­tive to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex for treat­ment. He is said to be in a sta­ble con­di­tion.

Law en­force­ment of­fi­cers from the San Juan Po­lice Dis­trict and the North-East­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force vis­it­ed the scene and con­duct­ed in­ter­views with res­i­dents.

The area was processed, and six rounds of 5.56 am­mu­ni­tion were re­cov­ered.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors al­so in­ter­viewed the vic­tim at hos­pi­tal, where he agreed to pro­vide a for­mal state­ment at a lat­er date.

A med­ical re­port has been re­quest­ed on his be­half.
