A 19-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to his left thigh during a shooting incident in Laventille on Thursday.
Guardian Media understands the incident occurred around 7 pm on Boxing Day, as the victim was walking from his home on Patterson Lane towards a nearby river.
According to reports, while on his way to the river, the victim observed a masked man armed with a firearm who then opened fire in his direction.
The injured teen was taken by a relative to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex for treatment. He is said to be in a stable condition.
Law enforcement officers from the San Juan Police District and the North-Eastern Division Task Force visited the scene and conducted interviews with residents.
The area was processed, and six rounds of 5.56 ammunition were recovered.
Investigators also interviewed the victim at hospital, where he agreed to provide a formal statement at a later date.
A medical report has been requested on his behalf.
