One man was arrested, and a firearm and quantity of ammunition seized by officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Port of Spain Division, on Saturday, April 13.
The Police Service says officers conducted the exercise around 5 pm yesterday, during which they proceeded to Lodge Place, East Dry River, where they discovered a man running with a firearm in his possession.
The officers called on the man to stop but he allegedly pointed the weapon in their direction. The TTPS says in keeping with the Use of Force Policy, the officers discharged their service firearms in the direction of the suspect.
The man allegedly threw a black object resembling a firearm on the ground as he fled but was held a short distance away.
Police officers recovered from the scene one Glock pistol loaded with a magazine containing six rounds of ammunition.
The suspect is expected to be charged with possession of firearm and possession of ammunition.
