One man was ar­rest­ed, and a quan­ti­ty of am­mu­ni­tion and co­caine were seized by of­fi­cers of the South West­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force (SWDTF) yes­ter­day.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, around 5pm yes­ter­day, Sgt Khan, Cpl Seecha­ran, PC Johnit­ty and a par­ty of of­fi­cers from the SWDTF ex­e­cut­ed a search war­rant at a res­i­dence lo­cat­ed at Nar­ine Trace, South Oropouche.

Dur­ing the search, the of­fi­cers dis­cov­ered 11 rounds of 5.56 am­mu­ni­tion, 32 rounds of nine-mil­lime­tre am­mu­ni­tion, along with 120 grammes of co­caine.

The of­fi­cers took pos­ses­sion of the il­le­gal items, and a 58-year-old labour­er was ar­rest­ed for the of­fences of Pos­ses­sion of Am­mu­ni­tion and Pos­ses­sion of Co­caine for the Pur­pose of Traf­fick­ing.

Mean­while, around 7pm yes­ter­day, Ag/Cpl Ram­roop and PC Bram­ble of the West­ern Di­vi­sion re­ceived in­for­ma­tion and pro­ceed­ed to Morne Co­co Road, Mar­aval.

The of­fi­cers searched a bushy area a few me­ters off the road­way, where they found a bag con­tain­ing 20 rounds of 5.56 am­mu­ni­tion and a quan­ti­ty of co­caine.

The items were seized and the co­caine when weighed amount­ed to ap­prox­i­mate­ly one kilo­gramme.
