One man is dead and two women were in­jured fol­low­ing a shoot­ing this morn­ing as their car was blocked on the high­way and gun­men opened fire on them in San­ta Rosa. 

The de­ceased was iden­ti­fied as Julio Layne, of Tem­ple Street, Ari­ma. The fe­male vic­tims, aged 32 and 24, are both from Pineap­ple Dri­ve, Va­len­cia. The trio was said to have been re­turn­ing to Ari­ma af­ter lim­ing at the Brick House Bar, Va­len­cia - when they were run off the road and am­bushed.

Layne, who was de­scribed as a pri­or­i­ty of­fend­er was seat­ed in the front pas­sen­ger seat of the sil­ver grey B-15 dri­ven by the 32-year-old woman.

The sec­ond woman had been seat­ed be­hind Layne. The oc­cu­pants were re­port­ed­ly pro­ceed­ing west along the Churchill Roo­sevelt High­way when up­on reach­ing San­ta Rosa, they were in­ter­cept­ed by an un­known ve­hi­cle which sped past them and then forced them off the road.

The dri­ver was forced to pull to the side caus­ing her ve­hi­cle to veer off the road­way and col­lide with a guard rail as gun­men opened fire on them. It was al­leged that Layne got out of the car and at­tempt­ed to run and was shot mul­ti­ple times.

He was found ly­ing on the road, while the 24-year-old woman was found bleed­ing in the back seat from ten gun­shot wounds about the body. The dri­ver was not shot but was in­jured as a re­sult of the crash.

A to­tal of 47 spent cas­ings were re­cov­ered, with some bear­ing the mark­ings TTR on them.
