A Longdenville man remained in a medically induced coma at hospital, following an alleged altercation with a close male relative at their home on Wednesday.
Reports indicate the 55-year-old victim was at home with his family around 1:15 pm on August 7, when his wife went searching and found him lying in a drain on the property.
The victim was at the time covered with a sheet.
Upon confronting the suspect, who also was at the house, the victim’s wife said he [the suspect] rushed into a room and locked himself in.
The victim’s son rushed him to the Chaguanas Health Facility where he was treated, before being transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex at Mt Hope, where he was warded in a critical condition in a coma.
Meanwhile, lawmen arrested the suspect at the victim’s house, even as he argued that he had been, “Just defending myself.”
He was later taken for medical attention at the Chaguanas Health Facility, before being taken to the Cunupia Police Station.
He remains in police custody.
