Man in coma after fight with relative

A Long­denville man re­mained in a med­ical­ly in­duced co­ma at hos­pi­tal, fol­low­ing an al­leged al­ter­ca­tion with a close male rel­a­tive at their home on Wednes­day.

Re­ports in­di­cate the 55-year-old vic­tim was at home with his fam­i­ly around 1:15 pm on Au­gust 7, when his wife went search­ing and found him ly­ing in a drain on the prop­er­ty.

The vic­tim was at the time cov­ered with a sheet.

Up­on con­fronting the sus­pect, who al­so was at the house, the vic­tim’s wife said he [the sus­pect] rushed in­to a room and locked him­self in.

The vic­tim’s son rushed him to the Ch­agua­nas Health Fa­cil­i­ty where he was treat­ed, be­fore be­ing trans­ferred to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex at Mt Hope, where he was ward­ed in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion in a co­ma.

Mean­while, law­men ar­rest­ed the sus­pect at the vic­tim’s house, even as he ar­gued that he had been, “Just de­fend­ing my­self.”

He was lat­er tak­en for med­ical at­ten­tion at the Ch­agua­nas Health Fa­cil­i­ty, be­fore be­ing tak­en to the Cunu­pia Po­lice Sta­tion.

He re­mains in po­lice cus­tody.
