Man robbed after Facebook meet-up

A man was robbed af­ter go­ing to meet a stranger he met on Face­book for a busi­ness trans­ac­tion.

It is the third such in­ci­dent po­lice have been made to in­ves­ti­gate in the last two weeks.

Po­lice said the 39-year-old man went to Fadell Cir­cu­lar, Grand Cu­ru­caye, Bourg Mu­la­tresse, at 10.30 am on Wednes­day to meet a stranger who mes­saged him and claimed to be in­ter­est­ed in buy­ing a flat-screen tele­vi­sion the vic­tim ad­ver­tised for sale.

On reach­ing the area, the man was con­front­ed by a gun­man who stole the tele­vi­sion and walked off.

On Mon­day, three men from South Trinidad were robbed of $31,000 and US$2,500 by two armed ban­dits when they drove to Up­per Ninth Av­enue, Barataria, to meet a man who claimed to have a Nis­san Ti­i­da for sale.

Last Wednes­day, two men and a woman were robbed when they went to La­dy Young Road, Mor­vant, to sell a car.
