Restaurant’s earnings stolen after Mausica roadside robbery
Police are investigating the theft of a quantity of cash from an Arima restaurant when bandits blocked the path of the vehicle transporting the cash on Saturday night.
Police said the driver was transporting the money in a can on the Caroni North Bank Road, Mausica, around 11.30 pm when bandits in a silver car overtook the van and blocked its path.
Two bandits got out of the car and fired shots at the van before opening the driver’s door, grabbing a pouch containing $6,003 which represented the day’s sales for the restaurant.
The bandits stole the driver’s cell phone and keys to the van before getting back in their vehicle and driving off.
Officers of the Arima CID visited the scene and found a bullet.
