The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service continues to execute strategies and conduct operations aimed at removing illegal guns from communities. Officers of the Southern Division were successful in such efforts, when they seized a high powered automatic weapon, ammunition and arrested a man in connection with the seizure, during a firearms removal exercise, yesterday.
On Monday 17th October, 2022, officers executed a search warrant at a house located at New City Avenue, Marabella. Upon searching the premises, the officers found and seized one AR-15 rifle, fitted with a magazine containing 10 rounds of 5.56 ammunition. A 61-year-old labourer was arrested for the offences of Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.
The exercise was coordinated by Snr. Supt. Richard Smith, Supt. Carthy, ASP Jaikaran and Insp. Phillip, and was supervised by Sgt. Joseph, Sgt. Mason, Ag/Cpl Bahadur, Ag/Cpl Lancaster and included officers of the Southern Division Task Force.
Investigations are continuing.
