President of the Media Association Vernon Ramesar on Saturday resigned from the organisation citing personal reasons.
His resignation came one month before the end of his term of office.
A statement from MATT said vice president Joel Julien will act as president until a new executive is voted into office. This follows a meeting among the general membership of the organisation held at Costaat’s School of Journalism, in Port-of-Spain yesterday.
MATT thanked Ramesar for his leadership, inspiration and guidance over the past 23 months.
The MATT executive election will be held on April 27.
All seven positions in the executive- President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Assistant Secretary and two Floor Members- are up for election.
Nominations for all seven positions were officially opened yesterday.
Anyone interested in contesting any of the positions is asked to signal their intention to do so by sending an email to mattexecutive@gmail.com.
The deadline date for nominations is April 23.
