A search has been launched out in the high seas, off the East Coast of Trinidad, for a 25-year-old fisherman who went missing on Wednesday.
Renaldo ‘Justin’ Morales, of Mayaro, was last seen between 4 pm and 5 pm.
Speaking with the Guardian Media yesterday, boat owner Marcus Garcia said Morales was on a 28-foot fishing pirogue named ‘Righteous’ when he was last seen. He said he found it strange that Morales did not return.
“Justin is an experienced fisherman and would be accustomed going out by himself to fish. Usually, he would stay overnight and it’s Friday and he has not returned. It’s worrying,” Garcia said.
“Some of us went out searching for him since and we called the Coast Guard, who last told us that they’re still searching for him,” he added.
Morales’ cousin Stacey Mc Coleman told the Guardian Media that the family was told that Morales was last seen pulling in nets.
“We don’t know much but we know he’s missing and hope he is found safe and soon,” Mc Coleman said.
