Clos­er ties be­tween the city of Shang­hai and the city of Port of Spain were the fo­cus of re­cent talks be­tween May­or of Port of Spain Chin­ua Al­leyne, and His Ex­cel­len­cy Fang Qiu, Am­bas­sador of the Peo­ple’s Re­pub­lic of Chi­na to the Re­pub­lic of Trinidad and To­ba­go.

His Ex­cel­len­cy paid a vis­it to the May­or’s of­fice at City Hall, Port of Spain, last Thurs­day, No­vem­ber 23.  He was ac­com­pa­nied by Mr. Zhou Lichun, Coun­sel­lor at the Em­bassy, and Ms. Zhou Con­gyu, First Sec­re­tary.

The May­or’s Of­fice re­port­ed in so­cial me­dia posts that the “main pur­pose of this cour­tesy vis­it was to dis­cuss the re­la­tion­ship be­tween Shang­hai and Port of Spain”.

“We be­lieve that this meet­ing will fur­ther strength­en the ties be­tween our two cities and fos­ter mu­tu­al growth and un­der­stand­ing,” the May­or’s of­fice said in a state­ment.  “We look for­ward to a fruit­ful col­lab­o­ra­tion in the fu­ture.”
