In re­sponse to grow­ing ev­i­dence of pos­si­ble vac­cine card fraud, the Min­istry of Health has em­barked on a com­pre­hen­sive card ver­i­fi­ca­tion ex­er­cise through­out the coun­try.

A re­lease from the Min­istry ex­plains its rep­re­sen­ta­tives will be con­tact­ing mem­bers of the pub­lic, via tele­phone, to con­firm the in­for­ma­tion pro­vid­ed on Im­mu­niza­tion Record Cards (vac­ci­na­tion cards) is ac­cu­rate.

The Min­istry says the ex­er­cise is be­ing con­duct­ed on be­half of the Min­istry of Health and as­sures that rep­re­sen­ta­tives will iden­ti­fy them­selves pri­or to ob­tain­ing the in­for­ma­tion.

“The pub­lic is as­sured that all in­for­ma­tion is treat­ed as con­fi­den­tial and will on­ly be used for of­fi­cial record keep­ing as the Min­istry moves to­wards the dig­i­tiz­ing of its im­mu­niza­tion records,” the re­lease said.

Mem­bers of the pub­lic are be­ing asked to co-op­er­ate with the Min­istry rep­re­sen­ta­tives con­duct­ing the ver­i­fi­ca­tion ex­er­cise and are ad­vised they can ver­i­fy the le­git­i­ma­cy of the calls and rep­re­sen­ta­tives by con­tact­ing 627-0010/11/12 ext. 1750.
