An anti-crime exercise in the Moruga district has led to the arrest of a teenaged suspect for assault and firearm offences, and the seizure of a firearm.
The anti-crime exercise was conducted by officers of the Moruga Police Station, on Thursday 30th April 2020. It was coordinated by Supt Maharaj and ASP Thedore Persad and supervised by Ag Inspector Prescott and Sgt. Lewis, and included PC Vilava and PC Phagoo.
Official police reports indicate that at around 11:30am on Thursday, officers responded to a report of assault taking place at Maingot Trace, Basse Terre.
Upon arrival at the premises, they met the suspect who led the party of officers to an area off Warren Trace where they retrieved a 12-gauge Shotgun.
The suspect was arrested and charged for five offences: possession of a firearm, two counts of common assault, assault by beating and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Investigations are ongoing.
