An autopsy carried out on the skeletal remains found in missing 30-year-old Shastri Samad’s vehicle on Wednesday remains inconclusive.
The mother of the deceased, Parbatee Sinanan told Guardian Media that she was informed that a DNA test had to be done on Samad’s father and his siblings before any closure can be made.
Police initially believed that the skeletal remains found in the burnt vehicle at La Sieva Extension, Foster Road, Sangre Grande could be that of Samad of Rampartap Trace, Vega de Oropouche, Sangre Grande.
Samad was reported missing on Saturday, June 11 by his relatives at the Sangre Grande Police Station and police later responded to a report that a burnt car was seen at La Sieva Extension, Foster Road, Sangre Grande.
Police then conducted a search on the burnt vehicle which revealed it was a Nissan Almera vehicle belonging to Samad.
In her interview with Guardian Media yesterday, Sinanan said she will speak more when the DNA test is done and she gets confirmation from the police that it was her son.
“I am still in doubts whether my son is alive or dead, God alone knows,” said the distraught mother.
The mother of seven said she will only believe that it is her son when the DNA test is done and she gets concrete evidence.
“What if it is not my son’s bone?” she asked.
“I will wait.”
