A 24-year-old Debe man suspected of Monday’s murder of Susan Seepersad has been arrested.
According to police, a relative of one of the suspect’s friends saw him in the Fyzabad district hours after Seepersad’s body was found at the back of their rental apartment building along Rampersad Trace, Debe.
Fyzabad police found him and he was taken into custody and questioned in a separate investigation.
The Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Three were notified and investigators went to caution him about their probe into his alleged murder of Seepersad.
Seepersad, a mother of two, was found with her throat slit in a dilapidated building on Monday. According to police, an anonymous caller contacted the San Fernando CID at 6.50 am, informing them of a body at the back of the apartments.
Barrackpore police responded and found her drenched in blood.
Investigators were told that Seepersad and the suspect both rented apartments in the building. Up to 4 am Monday, they were seen drinking together and it was suspected that they had an argument which ended in her murder.
The suspect, who is unemployed, was nowhere to be seen in the community. Seepersad’s body was transferred to the Forensic Science Centre yesterday where an autopsy was expected to be done.
