"Why you did this to me?"
These were the words of Anthony Wilson moments after he was stabbed by a man whom he allowed to live with him his house, before he succumbed to his injuries.
The murder occurred around 12:15 am on Friday, November 18.
The suspect, who came out of prison earlier this year, escaped after attacking the elderly man's caretaker Elizabeth Allameny.
Investigators said Wilson, 63, died from a single stab wound to the chest shortly after midnight.
The suspect had been living with Wilson and Allameny at Forest Reserve, Fyzabad, in a concrete and wooden house inside a gated area owned by Heritage Petroleum.
Police said Allameny, 48, reported that around 12:15 am she was in her bedroom when she heard a commotion outside.
When she went to investigate, she saw the suspect standing near Wilson, who was covered in blood.
Allameny rushed to help but the suspect snatched her by the neck and pulled her away. She managed to fight him off and run away.
The suspect also fled with the murder weapon.
Wilson, who was wearing a pair of black shorts, was sitting on the couch bleeding from the chest.
Officers led by Insp Roland Ramlogan, Sgt Ricardo Banmalley, Sgt Dhansingh, and WPCs Simon and La Rode visited the scene.
Allameny was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where she was treated and discharged.
District Medical Officer Dr Nalini Maharaj viewed the body and ordered it removed to the Forensic Science Centre.
