Naparima Girls’ High School has secured the most Government scholarships this year.
The south-based school took 19 of 100 scholarships offered by the Ministry of Education based on the results of the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) 2022, a release confirmed yesterday.
Of the 19 scholarships, nine were in the Open category and were awarded to Renessa Ramsingh (Business Studies), Isabella Mungal (Creative & Performance Studies), Christin Seecharan (General Studies), Farah Ali (Information and Communication Technology Studies), Angelina Stew (Language Studies), Kayla Dookie (Mathematics), Soriyah Rooplal (Mathematics), Taahirah Khan (Natural Science) and Sonja Maraj (Natural Science).
Presentation College (Chaguanas) earned the second most scholarships with 11.
Four of those were Open scholarships awarded to Kevin Liu (Business Studies), Darian Ramjitsingh (Environmental Studies), Andrew Mohammed (Natural Science) and Akshay Ramlogan (Natural Science).
St Augustine Girls’ High School meanwhile secure nine scholarships.
They earned five Open schols via Jianna Thomas (Business Studies), Pooja Mangra (Information and Communication Technology Studies), Solange Joseph (Language Studies), Robyn Bhola (Mathematics) and Saira Mohammed (Natural Science).
The Government awarded 100 scholarships—32 Open and 68 Additional. Of the 100 scholarships, 72 per cent were awarded to female students while 28 per cent were awarded to male students.
The scholarships in the ten cognate groups are awarded solely based on academic performance.
