Police say they are yet to arrest the men who beat and killed 20-year-old Darion Pierre at Cotton Hill, Gasparillo on Wednesday.
Speaking to Guardian Media, his grandmother June Pierre said she was leaving the matter in the hands of God.
“People will fail us but God don’t sleep,” she whispered. Pierre said she experienced a difficult night on Thursday after an autopsy report revealed her grandson was shot in the head before he was flung off a precipice.
Pierre said Darion’s funeral will take place at Guides Funeral Home in San Fernando on Tuesday.
Darion’s remains were discovered in a dense, bushy area off Cotton Hill, Bonne Aventure Gasparillo on Wednesday.
An autopsy conducted at the Forensic Science Centre confirmed that he died from a gunshot wound to the head. Police speculate that he may have already been dead when his body was thrown down the hill at Cotton Hill.
Pierre said Darion, aged only 20, had his entire future ahead of him. She described him as diligent and respectful, with aspirations of owning his own home by the age of 30.
Anyone with information regarding his murder is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 800-TIPS.
