A couple has been refused bail and ordered kept in cousody on charges of kidnapping a baby.
Anjali de Gannes, 19, and Judah Taitt, 58, appeared virtually before Magistrate Rajendra Rambachan in the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with kidnapping for ransom.
Court police prosecutor PC Jaggernauth objected to bail and the accused were both remanded in custody to October 21.
They were jointly charged on Monday for kidnapping nine-month-old Sophia Rivas on September 15.
Warrants were issued for Jdan Taitt, 24, the third suspect charged in the matter.
The warrants will be executed at the Golden Grove State Prison, the Police Service said.
De Gannes was unrepresented while Judah Taitt was represented Nera Narine.
Investigations are continuing.
