There were no new COVID-19 deaths reported in Tobago last week with the island’s death toll from the disease remaining at 285, as at Saturday, October 8.
That’s according to latest weekly update, covering the period Sunday 2 to Saturday 8 October 2022, from the Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection, in the Tobago House of Assembly (THA).
It is the second week in a row the island has not had a COVID-19-related death. During the previous week (Sunday 25 September to Saturday 1 October 2022), no new COVID-19 deaths were reported.
In addition, the THA Health Division report notes 16 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Tobago, last week. The number of active infections, as at Saturday, October 8, was 47. This is a slight drop from the previous week (September 25 to October 1), at which time there were 48 active cases.
In terms of hospitalisations for COVID-19, the Health Division reports that four people are hospitalised, all of whom have not been vaccinated against the disease.
The Tobago COVID-19 update also reports that patients continue to survive the disease as 17 people were certified as recovered from COVID-19 during the period October 2 to 8, 2022.
A total of 10,885 in Tobago have recovered from COVID-19 since March 2020—up from 10,868 the previous week.
