Gary Griffith’s National Transformation Alliance (NTA) is seeking candidates for all 41 seats in the upcoming general elections. The party’s political leader said it will be announcing its candidates from next month for certain seats.
Griffith announced this on Wednesday, adding, “We intend to have the best team possible and we invite all patriots with or without political experience to join us on the journey to transformation. We’ll also continue to meet with other political parties to assist in uniting Trinidad and Tobago.”
The NTA had an election accommodation with the Opposition United National Congress (UNC) for the August 14, 2023 Local Government polls, where the UNC contested 110 electoral districts and the NTA, 31. The UNC tied 7-7 with the People’s National Movement for control of the 14 regional corporations.
The UNC and NTA continued political association after the Local Government Election, but remain separate parties. The UNC opened nominations for its 41 candidates for the general elections last December. Up to a couple of weeks ago, over 55 nomination forms were sought, UNC officials said.
In NTA’s release, Griffith said, “In our drive to transform T&T, the NTA is pleased to announce that we’re seeking candidates for all 41 seats in the upcoming general election. We also invite individuals to join any of the 41 campaign teams.
“In March we will start announcing candidates for certain seats so please send us your full name, contact numbers and voting address.”
