One man was killed and an­oth­er in­jured dur­ing a shoot­ing in­ci­dent in Fyz­abad last night. Dead is Ha­keen Pe­ters, 25, al­so known as Skin­ny, of Leza­ma Trace, St John Road, South Oropouche. 

His friend Ky­on Ramd­han, 21, of Fyz­abad, is in se­ri­ous con­di­tion at the San Fer­nan­do Gern­er­al Hos­pi­tal. Po­lice were told that short­ly be­fore 8.30 pm Ramd­han was re­vers­ing a Nis­san Ver­sa out of his un­cle's yard at Del­hi Road with Pe­ters in the front pas­sen­ger seat. 

Sev­er­al loud ex­plo­sions were heard and on check­ing Ramd­han's un­cle saw the ve­hi­cle crash­ing in­to some fig trees along the side of the road. Ramd­han ex­it­ed and ran to the back of the house. Pe­ters was slumped over on the dri­ver's seat with gun­shot wounds to the back. The keys were still in the ig­ni­tion and the en­gine was still run­ning. Ramd­han's fa­ther took him to the hos­pi­tal where he un­der­went surgery. 

In­ves­ti­ga­tors be­lieve the in­ci­dent was linked to the mur­der of Joshua Ma­habir who was shot dead last week at John Jules Trace, Fyz­abad. Po­lice re­trieved 50 spent shell cas­ings at the scene. Of­fi­cers of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions Re­gion 3.
