Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley on Tuesday met with Geraldine Slattery, President of BHP Petroleum and Vincent Pereira, President BHP Trinidad and Tobago at the energy company’s petroleum Headquarters in Houston, Texas.
The discussions focused on BHP’s current exploration programme and the opportunities available for collaboration with the Government of Trinidad and Tobago aimed at increasing oil and gas production.
The prime minister was also provided with an update on the investment decisions made by the energy company since his visit to BHP’s headquarters in Melbourne, Australia last year.
Tuesday’s visit also featured presentations by BHP’s technical staff on the geology/seismic sections of the company’s North East and South East blocks in Trinidad and Tobago and the interpretations of their shallow and deep water horizons.

The prime minister expressed his satisfaction with the company’s operations in Trinidad and Tobago and the parties committed to continuing to accelerate the mutually beneficial relationship.
During the visit Dr Rowley met with several Trinidad and Tobago nationals who are currently working at BHP in Houston.
This meeting marked the final stop of the prime minister’s ten-day energy tour where he met with the executives and the senior technical personnel of the major oil and gas companies who do business in Trinidad and Tobago.
The prime minister and his delegation are scheduled to return to Trinidad on Wednesday night.
