Prime Min­is­ter Dr Kei­th Row­ley and oth­er Cab­i­net Min­is­ters, in­clud­ing Min­is­ter of Works and Trans­port Ro­han Sinanan and Min­is­ter of Fi­nance Colm Im­bert, yes­ter­day vis­it­ed the project site of the new Main Ter­mi­nal Build­ing for the ANR Robin­son In­ter­na­tion­al Air­port in Crown Point, To­ba­go.

Ac­cord­ing to a post on Row­ley's Face­book page, the vis­it was for an up­date on the progress of con­struc­tion.

"The Gov­ern­ment’s in­vest­ment in this project aims to cre­ate an in­ter­na­tion­al air­port with suf­fi­cient ca­pac­i­ty and lev­el of ser­vice to sup­port tourism de­vel­op­ment and air trav­el in To­ba­go," the post stat­ed.

Al­so vis­it­ing along with Row­ley were Min­is­ter in the Min­istry of Fi­nance Bri­an Man­ning and Min­is­ter of Tourism, Cul­ture and the Arts Ran­dall Mitchell.

The Gov­ern­ment al­lo­cat­ed $200 mil­lion for the con­struc­tion of a ter­mi­nal and as­so­ci­at­ed fa­cil­i­ties of the air­port in fis­cal 2023.

The project, which is be­ing ex­e­cut­ed by NID­CO, aims to cre­ate an in­ter­na­tion­al air­port with suf­fi­cient ca­pac­i­ty and lev­el of ser­vice to sup­port tourism de­vel­op­ment and air trav­el in To­ba­go.

Ac­cord­ing to the Pub­lic Sec­tor In­vest­ment Pro­gramme, works will con­tin­ue with the up­grad­ing of the ex­ist­ing ter­mi­nal build­ing and the con­struc­tion of a new ter­mi­nal build­ing with a car park at Crown Point.

Up­grades will al­so be done at the Pi­ar­co In­ter­na­tion­al Air­port and the ex­ist­ing air­port fa­cil­i­ty at Crown Point.

In fis­cal 2023, the Air­ports Au­thor­i­ty of Trinidad and To­ba­go (AATT) will al­so re­ceive the sum of $31.7 mil­lion to con­tin­ue up­grades in in­fra­struc­ture and se­cu­ri­ty works.
