Gen­er­al Sec­re­tary of the Peo­ple's Na­tion­al Move­ment, Fos­ter Cum­mings, says the PNM lead­er­ship would de­cide on the fu­ture of the D’Abadie/O’Meara seat in due time.

He told Guardian Me­dia that the cur­rent fo­cus of the Prime Min­is­ter and the par­ty is to sup­port the fam­i­ly of the late Lisa Mor­ris-Ju­lian.

Mor­ris-Ju­lian and two of her chil­dren died in a house fire on Mon­day. The tragedy sent the coun­try in­to shock.

Her hus­band and oth­er rel­a­tives al­so were in­jured in the fire and are re­ceiv­ing med­ical care.

Lisa Mor­ris-Ju­lian was the Mem­ber of Par­lia­ment for D’Abadie/O’Meara, and just two weeks ago, she was screened and re-elect­ed by the PNM to rep­re­sent the con­stituen­cy at the next gen­er­al elec­tion.

Cum­mings says the par­ty will con­sid­er a new can­di­date for the seat in due time.

“We are fo­cused on sup­port­ing the fam­i­ly as much as we can and af­ter the arrange­ments are made in terms of a fu­ner­al, etc.,” he said, “I am sure that the po­lit­i­cal leader and the lead­er­ship of the par­ty will give con­sid­er­a­tion to what hap­pens in terms of rep­re­sen­ta­tion for that con­stituen­cy.”

This morn­ing, po­lice of­fi­cers and mem­bers of the Fire Ser­vice re­turned to the Far­fan Street, Ari­ma home of Lisa Mor­ris-Ju­lian as in­ves­ti­ga­tions con­tin­ued in­to the cause of the blaze.
