Police have arrested two men after a high-speed chase early this morning. Police say around 3:45 a.m. officers responded to a report of a break-in at a Preysal supermarket. The suspects were spotted fleeing in a silver Nissan Almera.
When officers arrived, they saw the car speeding towards the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway. They chased the vehicle with help from several teams and stopped it at Busy Corner in Chaguanas.
The suspects got out and ran, but police quickly caught two of them: a 23-year-old from Melrose Place, Arima, and a 26-year-old from Demerara Road, Arima.
Officers found a large black container in the car filled with various alcoholic beverages, cigarettes from the supermarket, a bolt cutter, a pick axe, and two vehicle registration plates.
