The proceedings of the Commission of Enquiry into the construction sector should be validated says Dana Seetahal, Independent Senator. "I think it is absolutely necessary to validate everything done by the commission of enquiry, or the work of the commission of enquiry so far," Seetahal said. She supported her argument about the validation of the proceedings of the Uff Commission of Enquiry saying that all the matters could have been investigated by the proper authorities, as they ought to have been investigated.
Seetahal was contributing to debate in the Upper House on the act to validate the proceedings and the recordings of the Commission of Enquiry into the construction sector. Commenting on the appointment of Justice Anthony Lucky to inquire into the Government's failure to comply with the legal requirement to publish the holding of the inquiry in the Gazette, Seetahal said she did not support the purpose of the appointment.
"One person inquiring into the failure of a commission of enquiry. It sounds funny. I don't believe the appointment is under the commission of enquiry. Not that type of appointment. It is not a commission."
