?Op­po­si­tion MP Dr Tim Gopeesingh has writ­ten to act­ing Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions (DPP) Roger Gas­pard to ini­ti­ate po­lice ac­tion against Ude­cott's ex­ec­u­tive chair­man Calder Hart. The let­ter, dat­ed Oc­to­ber 26, was copied to the At­tor­ney Gen­er­al John Je­re­mie and the act­ing Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice James Philbert. Gopeesingh said the ac­tion should be based on tes­ti­mo­ny giv­en at the sus­pend­ed Uff Com­mis­sion of En­quiry in­to Ude­cott and the Con­struc­tion Sec­tor. He said re­gard­ing the Tarou­ba Sta­di­um, there was a case for an in­ves­ti­ga­tion to be launched "in­to the ac­tiv­i­ties of Ude­cott and, specif­i­cal­ly, its ex­ec­u­tive chair­man Calder Hart as to whether the com­pa­ny act­ed with sin­gu­lar favouritism to­wards the con­tract­ing firm Hafeez Kara­math."

Gopeesingh said: "The pre­rog­a­tive to in­struct the po­lice to ini­ti­ate such a probe falls un­der your good of­fice." He said the re­spon­si­bil­i­ty lay with the act­ing DPP to in­struct that the probe took place in the in­ter­est of the na­tion­al com­mu­ni­ty. Many Op­po­si­tion politi­cians and sacked min­is­ter Dr Kei­th Row­ley have been call­ing for the po­lice to ini­ti­ate a crim­i­nal probe in­to the op­er­a­tions of Ude­cott, based on ev­i­dence in the Uff Com­mis­sion. Prime Min­is­ter Patrick Man­ning has said no ac­tion will be tak­en un­til the re­port of the com­mis­sion was pre­sent­ed to the Pres­i­dent.
