Opposition forces are expected to converge at Woodford Square in Port-of-Spain on Saturday for a major protest rally against the proposed increase in property taxes.

This is according to deputy political leader of the Congress of the People (COP) Prakash Ramadhar. He said UNC deputy leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Mayaro MP Winston (Gypsy) Peters, comedian Dennis (Sprangalang) Hall, National Foodcrop Farmers Association member Norris Deonarine, TOP’s leader Ashworth Jack and others are scheduled to address the rally.

Ramadhar said a petition against the proposed hike in taxes would be available for citizens to sign at the rally. He said all sections of the national community had united against the proposed increase in taxes. Ramadhar said that at the end of the rally, a confirmed course of action would be determined to prevent the increase in property taxes in January 2010. He did not rule out legal action as an option available to citizens.

She has not changed her mind. -
With all the hot water she is in right now with the UNC she has been ordered to withdraw and an excuse of convenience, the lamest one yet, given as some sort of a justification. Don't expect to hear too much from her though. The doghouse is not a place from where one can speak freely.

Kamla may very well be the first female PM in the history of Trinidad and Tobago. This is only if PM stands for Political Masochist.

KEN ALI MISREPRESENTS

KEN ALI MISREPRESENTS KAMLA'S VIEWS -

This is the second time Ken Ali has misrepresented Kamla's views. What is his agenda?

1) On the first occasion, Kamla clearly stated that she got clearance for the walk about with Prakash in her constituency. His previous article suggested differently, I brought this to his attention then.
2) Last night on TV6, KAMLA indicated that her reason for not attending the rally was the attack of her leader Panday by Winston.

Ken yuh only trying to create mischief. Captain there are traitors on board examine the horns. Am I reading the Guardian or the BOMB? Is this a newspaper or a tabloid paper? This reminds me of Eric's statement referring to a newspaper as "The Jamet on St Vincent Street". We do know that the Guardian supported COP in the last election predicting a 25 seat victory. Do we now have to view all publications with scepticism?

UNBRIDLED HATE FOR PANDAY

UNBRIDLED HATE FOR PANDAY -

It would be interesting to do a sociological examination of the unbridled bias and hate towards Panday.

RELEIGON - From a religious perspective hate for someone is a sin. Religious tolerance is preached on one hand while some preachers tell their flock that Hinduism is evil on the other hand and they should not vote for a Hindu PM.

RACE – History would have taught us that the AFRICANS and INDIANS were both exploited people. In addition the suffering of slavery by AFRICANS should make them sensitive to racial bias against any people. This is most apparent in Obama. Our Indian brothers have contributed significantly to our liberation struggles. It started with Ghandi in South Africa to Panday in T&T. ‘”Indians and Negroes unite and join the struggle for human rights” was the rally call of the 1970 BLACK Power Revolution.

CLASS - Most Trinbagonians came from humble families. It was the struggle of the Labour Unions that allows us an increased piece of the economic pie. This made it possible for the movement of many families of port workers and cane farmers to a middle class and professional status. Panday, Weeks, Butler and other trade unions leaders were in the forefront of this struggle.
