?UNC candidate:

No polling station for 1,500 Tobago voters

Some 1,500 United National Congress (UNC) members from Tobago will have to travel to Trinidad to vote at Sunday's internal elections because there is no polling booth in the island. So said Barrington "Skippy" Thomas, Tobago regional representative candidate on the independent candidates' platform in Siparia on Wednesday night. Speaking at the Siparia KPA Primary School, Thomas tried, prosecuted and found the United National Congress, led by political leader Basdeo Panday, guilty of causing suffering and abandoning the people of Tobago. One of the many atrocities against Tobago UNC members, he said, was there was no polling station.

Thomas, a radio talk show host and Anglican pastor, said Carl Hector sent a notice to chairman of the elections committee, Khemchan Ramdath, confirming there was a membership of 1,500 people in Tobago and no polling station. Thomas said when he spoke to Ramdath on Tuesday he told him to come to Trinidad and vote in Arouca. Thomas said: "I don't live in Arouca. I live in Tobago. He went further to say I must buy a plane ticket and bring the receipt, pay a car and bring the receipt and if I have to eat any meal bring the receipt. "My favourite meal is doubles so you could imagine me telling a doubles man I want a receipt."
